Australia’s first independent online supplier platform, RANGEme, which enables FMCG suppliers to pitch their product range to leading Australian retailers, has joined the GS1 Australia Alliance Partner Program.

Australian Food News reported in August 2014 that Australian supermarket giant Coles had adopted the RANGEme online tool for its potential suppliers. RANGEme is targeted at small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) who use the platform to showcase their products to the right category buyers within the grocery, pharmacy, convenience and impulse, and health food channels. Buyers utilise the technology to source new products for their specific categories.

The GS1 Barcode (GS1 System of Standards) is the most widely used identification system and supply chain standard in the world, enabling 2 million companies in over 150 countries to identify, capture and share information about products, cartons, pallets, documents, locations, assets and more.

RANGEme will ensure subscribed suppliers have a verified GS1 Barcode and refer suppliers to GS1 Australia’s SmartMedia technology, an industry solution for managing and sharing images and product related assets with trading partners.

“We are excited about the partnership with GS1 Australia,” said Nicky Jackson, RANGEme’s Chief Executive Officer. “Both organisations are committed to equipping SME product suppliers with tools to efficiently communicate with Australian retailers, in addition to simplifying the process for retail buyers through standardisation,” she said.

The Alliance Partner program offers GS1 Australia members the latest information on products and services from leading industry suppliers to help implement or improve on-time delivery. GS1 Australia said its Alliance Partner Program provides small and large businesses with a diverse range of benefits including supply chain enabling tools, priority notification of new technologies and innovation initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency, comprehensive best practice case studies and professional advice in making the GS1 implementation smoother and easier.

“The entry of RANGEme into the GS1 Australia Alliance Partner Program is a significant announcement,” said Maria Palazzolo, Chief Executive Officer at GS1 Australia. “We welcome RANGEme to the Alliance Partner Community to help SME product suppliers, including GS1 members, get their products ranged effectively with Australian retailers using GS1 standards,” she said.
