SungoldRyan’s IGA stores located across regional Victoria will now be stocking Warrnambool Cheese and Butter (WCB) brand, Sungold, as its main milk brand.

General Manager of Ryan’s IGA stores, Ben Ryan, said after hearing about the falling farmgate milk prices local dairy farmers are being offered, his team decided to review its milk offering.

The team decided to switch to Sungold after concluding it would provide the best price for farmers.

“We looked at what was going to be best for our local farmers in regards to getting them the best price and that was overwhelmingly through Warrnambool Cheese & Butter,” Ryan said.

“In the end switching to Warrnambool was a no-brainer,” he stated.

The decision to stock Sungold will mean an additional one million of litres of milk will be produced by 35 local farmers. Approximately 90 per cent of all milk stocked in Ryan’s IGA stores will be Sungold.

There are a total of six Ryan IGA’s across Victoria located in Ballarat, Colac, Torquay and the surrounding areas.
