Supermarkets dominate IBISWorld Top 1, 000 Australian companies list

Australia’s supermarkets have once again dominated IBISWorld’s Australian Top 1, 000 companies list for 2017.

Each year, research company, IBISWorld, ranks Australia’s companies based off total revenue in the past calendar year.

Wesfarmers, the parent company of Coles, came in number one as it did in 2016, bringing in a revenue of AUD $66.2 million.

Woolworths came in second, as it also did in 2016, bringing in AUD $58.5 million.

Food company in Top 5 Newcomers list

The China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO) made the Top 5 Newcomers list for its AUD $512.4 million in revenue.

COFCO is a Chinse state-owned food processor, manufacturer and trader with its Australian office located in Perth. Its main Australian business is importing and exporting grains and food products.
