List of the best independent supermarkets announced
Leading Victorian, Queensland and Northern New South Wales IGA supermarkets have been recognised at the 2017 state IGA Awards of Excellence.
The awards are held each year to recognise the best independent supermarkets in several different categories.
This year’s awards come at a time when IGA’s larger supermarket competitors are looking to expand further and likely to be scrutinizing the opportunities among the successful IGA outlets.

Victorian General Manager of Metcash Supermarkets, Paul Everad, said Metcash likes to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of its stores through the awards.
“Congratulations to Flinders Street IGA E-press, Ritchies IGA Mt Eliza and Ritchies SUPA IGA Mount Waverley for being recognised as leaders in independent retailing,” Everad said.
The Victorian, Queensland and New South Wales winners will now compete against other IGA stores across Australia in the IGA National Awards which will be held in Queensland in July 2017.
