Domino’s adds vegan cheese to its menu choices

Domino’s is now offering customers the choice of vegan cheese on their pizzas.

Chief Executive Officer of Domino’s Australia and New Zealand, Nick Knight, said the decision to introduce vegan cheese was made after Domino’s ran a survey on its Facebook page in 2017 to gage interest in the ingredient.

“We were blown away by the response to the survey and for this product in general,” Knight said.

“The popularity of, and demand for, vegan products has increased considerably over the years so it’s great we are now able to offer this high quality, non-GMO, plant-based and preservative free vegan cheese.”

The cheese has been tested by Domino’s who says it has the same taste, texture and melt as dairy cheese.

To help launch Domino’s vegan cheese, Domino’s is now selling a range of limited-edition vegan pizzas – Vegan Avocado Veg, Vegan Spicy Trio and Vegan Margherita.

All other Domino’s pizzas can be made vegan with adjustment as the chain’s pizza sauces and bases are vegan.

“For an additional $2.95, people can simply swap out our usual mozzarella for the vegan-friendly alternative,” Knight said.

“This is also great news for people with allergies and food sensitivities as it contains no dairy, gluten or soy.”

Vegan cheese is available now at Domino’s for a limited-time. Domino’s says it will look into making the cheese a regular menu item if consumers love the ingredient as much as they do.
