Independent SA ice cream judged best in Australia
A independent South Australian ice cream producer has been judged to have the best ice cream in Australia.
Golden North Ice Cream was named Canstar Blue’s Best Australian ice cream after 1, 600 customers were asked to rate ice cream brands based on taste consistency, value for money, variety, packaging and overall satisfaction.
Golden North was the only brand to receive a five-star rating for taste, consistency and overall satisfaction.
The Top 10 ranked ice creams based off the survey were:
- Golden North
- Aldi
- Bulla
- Cadbury
- Connoisseur
- Peters
- Sara Lee
- Streets
- Ben & Jerry’s
- Coles
- Woolworths
Golden North Marketing Director, Trevor Pomery, said the award is a major honour for a South Australian company who is expanding nationally.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be judged Australia’s best ice cream, particularly when you consider some of the brands we were up against,” Pomery said.
Golden North was established in 1923 and is privately owned and operated, based in Laura SA.
