New Zealand-based gourmet fresh chilled soup and meal manufacturer Pitango has launched a new “home-style” Free Range Chicken and Vegetable Soup, in time for the seasonal shift towards the colder months.

The soup, which Pitango said is “99 per cent fat-free, gluten-free and has no added preservatives”, has a shelf life of 6 weeks if stored in the refrigerator.

“This is a classic, a well-loved soup”, said Sharon Addington, Marketing Director at Pitango. “It was incredibly important to us to make sure we were loyal to the recipe by using real, fresh ingredients and the best free range chicken,” she said.

“Our aim was to create a product that had an honest homemade taste and flavour, something that Pitango is recognised for,” Ms Addington said. “And we believe we have achieved this,” she said.

The full Pitango range includes soups cooked in small batches and made using organic vegetables and premium ingredients, and convenience meals such as serve-and-heat risottos. Pitango is distributed in Australia by Menora Foods.

Pitango Free Range Chicken and Vegetable Soup launched in Woolworths supermarkets nationally on 7 April 2014. Pitango soups and meals can be found in the chiller section. RRP $6.99.
