Global beverage giant Coca-Cola has announced it will launch a stevia-sweetened formulation in Australia and New Zealand in April 2015.

Coca-Cola said the Coca-Cola Life product contains “35 per cent less sugar” and is a “35 per cent kilojoule reduced” formulation compared to Coca-Cola. The lower kilojoule formulation is achieved by using a combination of sugar and stevia.

Coca-Cola said its Coca-Cola Life formulation had been successfully launched in a number of other countries including Argentina, Chile, Mexico, GB and most recently the US. Following these launches and local consumer research, the Company said it believed that Coca-Cola Life would “offer Australians and New Zealanders another great option in the Coca-Cola portfolio”.

The Coca-Cola Company is the world’s largest beverage company, refreshing consumers with more than 500 sparkling and still brands. Globally, Coca-Cola is the number one provider of sparkling beverages, ready-to-drink coffees, and juices and juice drinks. Through the world’s largest beverage distribution system, consumers in more than 200 countries consumer its beverages.

Coca-Cola said the launch of Coca-Cola Life was “another positive step in fulfilling the business commitment made in July 2013 to offer more lower kilojoule options”.

The Company said it would release more details about the launch of Coca-Cola Life closer to the time of launch.
