Australian food manufacturer SPC has launched Perfect Fruit, an innovative concept in frozen desserts, which SPC is “made from 100 per cent Australian grown fruit” but has the consistency of ice cream.

SPC said the dessert is “fat-free” and “dairy-free” and available in a range of fruit flavours, including strawberry, mango and mixed berry.

Perfect Fruit is part of the SPC portfolio, whose iconic food brands include Goulburn Valley, Ardmona, IXL, SPC, TAYLOR’S and Henry Jones & Co. SPC is owned by Australian-listed company Coca-Cola Amatil.

Following a small trial of the frozen fruit whip last year, SPC said more than 400 Perfect Fruit machines have now been snapped up for hospitals, entertainment parks, cinemas, schools and universities in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.

“Perfect Fruit is a great example of how SPC is transforming from a cannery to a modern snack food company,” said Sandra Pereira, Director of Marketing & Innovation at SPC. “We’re excited to be delivering new, innovative ways to enjoy fruit on the go,” she said.

“We spent years developing the world-first technology to create Perfect Fruit,” Ms Pereira said. “So far, the feedback we’ve had from our customers has been overwhelming – we don’t actually have enough machines to meet demand at the moment,” she said.

Plans to export Perfect Fruit

With future export plans, Ms Pereira said that SPC’s production of Perfect Fruit means they’ll need to buy more fruit from their Australian farmers.

“We are committed to using only Australian-grown fruit for our Perfect Fruit product, and it’s not only Victorian growers that will benefit,” Ms Pereira said. “Whether it’s a mango grower in Queensland, or a berry grower in Tasmania, we’ll be looking for fruit growers from all over Australia to supply fruit to develop our new flavour ranges, which will change with each season,” she said.

“With a challenging year behind us, SPC is focused on a positive future,” Ms Pereira said. “We’re innovating all the time and are excited about the new products we’ve got in the pipeline for 2015 and beyond,” she said.

Perfect Fruit can be enjoyed either on its own, or customised with different ‘mix and match’ toppings such as choc minis, butterscotch brittle, slivered almonds or muesli.

Perfect Fruit is available at over 400 locations around Australia (eastern seaboard). RRP is $3.00 for a 148ml serve. Toppings are $0.50 extra.
