Bellamy’s appoints new director to support company growth
Australian baby food manufacturer Bellamy’s has announced the appointment of a new non-executive director, Launa Inman.
Ms Inman joins the Board of Directors for Bellamy’s and its associated entities in Australia, China and South East Asia. She commenced with the Board on 18 February 2015.
Bellamy’s said Ms Inman’s appointment was in response to the needs of the business’ growth plans and would “extend, diversify and compliment” the range of experience and skills available to the Board.
Ms Inman brings to the Board extensive experience in retailing, marketing (including digital technology and social media), finance and logistics. Ms Inman is a director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and a member of the Boards of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. Her diverse experience includes terms as Managing Director and CEO of Billabong International (May 2012 to August 2013), as well as Managing Director of Wesfarmers’ businesses Target Australia Pty Ltd (2005 to 2011) and Officeworks (2004 to 2005).
Australian Food News reported last week that Bellamy’s had announced strong results for the first half of the 2015 financial year, with plans to continue expanding both its Australian retail markets and export markets in Asia and elsewhere.
Bellamy’s posted strong revenue growth of 141 per cent to $58.3 million and net profit growth of 137 per cent to $3.2 million for the six months ended 31 December 2014.
Bellamy’s Organic started in Launceston, Tasmania in 2004 as a family-operated company. It was the first to offer an organic baby formula range in Australia. Tasmanian Pure Foods Ltd purchased Bellamy’s Organic in 2007.
The Company supplies its certified organic product range, which includes infant and toddler formula, as well as baby foods and snacks, to Woolworths, Coles, independent supermarkets and pharmacy chains.
It also exports its food to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and New Zealand. The Company said strong demand for its baby foods in Asia had led to the opening of offices in Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
