Murray Goulburn appoints new dairy foods manager
Australian dairy co-operative Devondale Murray Goulburn has announced the appointment of Albert Moncau to the role of Executive General Manager – Dairy Foods, reporting to Gary Helou, Managing Director.
Mr Moncau will join Murray Goulburn’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on 8 April 2015 with accountability for Marketing and Innovation, Domestic Sales and the international business. He brings extensive commercial and leadership experience from a broad range of industries globally. Prior to joining Devondale Murray Goulburn, Mr Moncau spent eight years as Managing Director of HJ Heinz in Southern Europe, China, and most recently Australia and New Zealand. He has also previously worked for Mattel Inc. where he led the successful development of new businesses in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Mr Moncau holds a Degree in Business Administration & a Master of International Management from ESADE Business School of Barcelona, Spain.
Devondale Murray Goulburn is Australia’s largest dairy foods company. In 2013/14 the company received approximately 3.4 billion litres or 37 per cent of Australia’s milk and generated sales revenue in excess of $2.9 billion. The co-operative was formed in 1950 and remains 100 per cent dairy farmer controlled, with more than 2,500 farmer/shareholders and more than 2,400 employees. Devondale Murray Goulburn is also Australia’s largest dairy food exporter to the major markets of Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and the Americas. Devondale Murray Goulburn produces and markets a range of consumer and food service brands, including its flagship Devondale brand, as well as a range of dairy ingredient and nutritional products.
Proposed change of supply arrangements at Tasmanian Dairy Products
Murray Goulburn has also announced a proposed change to the milk supply arrangements in Tasmania, through its joint-venture with Mitsubishi Corporation, Tasmanian Dairy Products (TDP).
Under the changed arrangements, TDP will continue as per usual with its milk processing operation in Smithton. However, from 1 July 2015, TDP will receive its milk supply via a milk supply agreement with Murray Goulburn.
Murray Goulburn said that before the end of the financial year, all current and prospective TDP suppliers would be invited to become members of the Murray Goulburn co-operative.
Murray Goulburn said that since it commenced milk collection in Tasmania with the Mitsubishi Corporation in 2012, it has had “excellent support” from the Tasmanian dairy industry including more than 100 suppliers that supply their milk to TDP. The co-operative said it hoped that all current suppliers considered becoming members of Murray Goulburn and continue to supply TDP via MG into the future.
Murray Goulburn said TDP suppliers who joined the co-operative may also have the opportunity to take part in any offer of shares which may be made to Murray Goulburn suppliers in connection with the proposed capital structure, should it proceed and depending on the timing of when the TDP supplier joins MG. Any such participation would be on the terms and conditions advised to those suppliers at that time.
