SOFI Spritz uses crowdfunding and crowdsourcing to launch new beverage flavour

Alcoholic beverage brand SOFI Spritz has launched a new crowd funding campaign which also allows consumers who pledge money to the campaign to choose the brand’s new beverage flavour.

The SOFI Spritzer is an alcoholic drink that blends Australian-grown Riesling grapes, blood orange, bitters and sparkling water. SOFI Spritz was founded by Tommy Maclean in 2014. Mr Maclean said he wanted to create a product that made use of Australian wine, while making it “lighter and more suitable for the Australian lifestyle”.

After a successful campaign through the crowdfunding website Pozible in 2014, which raised money to help fund the production of new packaging and subsequently won SOFI national distribution, the brand is turning to Pozible once again. Consumers can support the campaign and have a say in the new flavour until 1 May 2015.

Pozible is a worldwide platform for people to support brands through pledging money in return for a variety of rewards. SOFI Spritz is asking supporters to join their next Pozible campaign and help decide which concept goes to market.

Consumers to choose new flavour

In keeping with its tradition of taking a ‘classic’ European cocktail and giving it an ‘Australian twist’, SOFI Spritz has created two options for the new flavour addition to the range.

The Hugo Spritz flavour is made by mixing sparkling wine, soda water, fresh mint leaves elderflower syrup.

The Clerico Spritz flavour, which is based on a cocktail commonly known as Sangria Blanca from Paraguay and Argentina, blends fresh fruits such as cranberry and grapefruit to create a bitter-sweet taste profile.

In return for each pledge, supporters will also receive a reward according to the level of donation. Rewards range from beach bags and t-shirts, to cases of the original Sofi, discounts and exclusive access to the new batch plus exclusive taste testing sessions with friends and an incredible wine tasting experience in Mudgee with esteemed winemaker Simon Gilbert.

Alcohol Content: 8 per cent/ 1.3 standard drinks per 200ml bottle

SOFI Spritz is available at Dan Murphy’s and other bottle shops. Single bottles of the Spritzer RRP $5 and a case of four RRP $18.
