New Indian cooking brand launched in Australia by General Mills
General Mills has launched a new Indian cooking brand into Australian supermarkets, under the brand name Parampara.
The brand currently offers a range of spice mixes which can be used to cook a variety of Indian dishes. There are presently four spice mixes available in Australia, Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh, Biryani and Goan Chicken.
Each of the spice mixes range from mild to medium in heat and serve four people. Customers must add their own fresh ingredients such as meat and cream.
The Parampara brand was established in India in 1997 and was acquired by General Mills in 2012. The spice mixes are still made in India.
General Mills Australia is responsible for several very well-known food brands in Australian supermarkets. These include Betty Crocker for US-style cake mixes, Latina for Italian-themed meals, and Old El Paso for Mexican-themed meals.
Parampara Indian meal bases are now available at Coles and Woolworths supermarkets nationwide at $4.39 for a 80 gram packet at Woolworths and $4.95 at Coles.
