Woolworths drops Qantas Frequent Flyer points in favour of in-store discount
Woolworths has announced major changes to its ‘Everyday Rewards’ loyalty program, axing the ability for shoppers to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points.
Instead Woolworths customers will earn discount ‘dollars’ that are automatically deducted when they use their rewards card at the checkout.
The supermarket says that the new program will allow customers to earn discounts easily and orange stickers in-store will inform how much of a discount can be earnt on products.
Managing Director of Woolworths Food Group, Brad Banducci, has confirmed the change is part of the chain’s renewal plans announced earlier in 2015.
“We are placing the customer at the start of everything we do,” Banducci in May 2015 when he outlined the plans. “This strategy will result in lower prices, more compelling offers, and greater innovation.”
Shoppers will have the opportunity to still earn Frequent Flyer points until the end of 2015.
Woolworths ‘Everyday Rewards’ currently has nine million shoppers signed onto the program.
