Victorian Premier delighted to see local food products making their mark overseas
The Premier of Victoria, John Brumby, says Asian shoppers are lining their trolleys with Victorian produce after spotting a host of local products in a Hong Kong supermarket.
Five months ago the Premier launched a $1.4 million food processing plant for Donny Boy Fresh Food Company in Derrimut.
This week, as he perused the shelves of Great Supermarket in Hong Kong, Mr Brumby spotted the familiar fruit juice (Preshafruit) on the shelf.
“This juice not only boost’s Hong Kong shoppers’ wellbeing, it also boosts support for Victoria’s job security, export dollars and regional and rural food producers,” Mr Brumby contended. “This product and its success overseas is driving Victorian regional jobs and fostering industry growth right along the supply chain – from picking, sorting and grading fruit, to packing and transporting.”
Mr Brumby also spotted Lemnos Fetta Cheese, Paul’s Milk and Bulla Yoghurt on the shelves in a further sign that local produce is making its mark overseas.
“I am immensely proud of our local producers when I see first-hand their products on international shelves,” he added.
