Allergy training course launched for food service industry
The National Allergy Strategy has launched a free online course to help educate the food service industry on how to best manage customers with food allergies.
The National Allergy Strategy is a partnership between two major Australian allergy bodies; the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) and Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia (A&AA).
The ‘All About Allergens’ training course, available via the National Allergy Strategy website, provides training on how to respond when customers disclose food allergies, how to manage their orders, how to minimise cross-contamination and how to provide good customer service to those who have food allergies.
The course also educates on what symptoms of a food allergic reaction look like and what to do if a customer experiences anaphylaxis.
A community education website has also been created for those with food allergies and their carers.
