SPC Ardmona selling Australian-grown canned cherry tomatoes
Ritchies Supa IGA CEO Fred Harrison with SPC's new cherry tomatoes
SPC Ardmona is now selling Australian grown canned cherry tomatoes.
Until now, only canned cherry tomatoes imported from overseas have been available to Australians.
SPC Ardmona worked with farmers in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley to produce the product which will be sold through Ritchies Supa IGA and other independent supermarkets.
Ritchies Supa IGA Chief Executive Officer, Fred Harrison, said the introduction of Australian grown canned cherry tomatoes “marks a bold new step for the Australian food industry”.
“Canned cherry tomatoes from Australia have been missing from shelves until now,” Harrison said.
“We can finally give Australians the option to buy a home-grown product that tastes great and supports local growers.
“We’re especially proud to be first to market in Australia to stock the Ardmona Cherry Tomatoes. It’s a great sign of SPC’s commitment to supporting the Australian food industry – including growers and retailers.”
The Ardmona branded canned cherry tomatoes are available in 400g tins.
SPC Ardmona is owned by beverage bottler, Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA).
