Cobs popcorn partners with Mattel in FMCG first

Australian popcorn maker Cobs has partnered with global toy company Mattel to release new UNO cards though Cobs popcorn packs.

Between 16 March – 1 April 2018, specially marked Cobs popcorn packs will include a single new UNO card that can be added to existing UNO decks.

Cards include ‘draw eight wild card’, a ‘deflection card’ which can be used to bounce a card back to the player that cast it and a ‘popcorn card’ which allows one player only to eat popcorn for an entire round.

The partnership is believed to be a first of its kind between Mattel and a FMCG brand.

Mattel Senior Marketing Manager, Jacinta Whitehead, said she believes the partnership between Cobs and Mattel is an exciting innovation.

“UNO is our hero brand within the game category and we are always looking for new innovative ways to keep it top of mind,” Whitehead said.

“The partnership allows the game to have a presence outside of the toy aisle.”

Specially marked Cobs UNO popcorn packs are available now at Coles and Woolworths supermarkets until stocks last. The recommended retail price is AUD $3.29.
