Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory (WCB) today announced the appointment of David Lord as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

After 14 years with Parmalat Australia, with the last seven years as Managing Director and CEO, David will join WCB as CEO in June this year as part of a planned transition from the interim CEO, John McLean.

Frank Davis, Chairman of WCB said that he and the Board were delighted to have attracted an executive of the calibre and experience of David.  “David is highly respected within the industry and has done an outstanding job with Parmalat in Australia.  His background in dairy has given him experience of working in partnership with farmers and I am confident that he will work well with our suppliers.

“In addition to dairy operations, David also has broad experience of fast moving consumer goods and branded dairy products, which will assist WCB with our strategy of expanding into other retail and calue added markets while still maintaining our strong traditional position in commodity markets.  He is exactly the right leader to continue WCB’s return to strong growth.” Mr Davis said.

John McLean has agreed to remain with the Company in the role of Associate Director, continuing his presence on the Board.   Mr Davis is very pleased John has agreed to stay with WCB, saying “He has done a fantastic job” and demonstrated “outstanding leadership and commitment after a 50 year association with WCB.

“The Board will benefit hugely from his continued wise counsel and deep industry expertise.”
