INDIA: Heinz launches raft of NPD

US food giant HJ Heinz has introduced a slew of new products into major cities in India.The company has launched chutneys, cooking sauces and mixes and ready meals “to meet the needs of the discerning Indian consumer”, Heinz India MD N Thiruambalam said.

Heinz Home Style Chutneys are available in two varieties – coriander mint and tomato – and are priced at INR60 (US$1.28).

The company has also launched Heinz Chef Style Sauces, a range of Mediterranean- and Chinese-style sauces.

Heinz said the “European-style” mayonnaise are sold in three flavours – regular, garlic and light – for INR75. The three varieties of Chinese sauce – red chilli, green chilli and soya sauce – are priced at INR55.

The range of ready-to-eat meals and ready-to-cook mixes has been launched under the Heinz Kitchen Klassics label.

The ready-to-eat meals range comprises four recipes – including Amritsari Chole, Awadhi Dal Fry and Jammu Wale Rajma at INR45 – and Peshawari Dal Makhani at INR50.

The ready-to-cook instant mixes are Coimbatore Dosa and Madurai Idli at INR27 and Dilliwale Gulab Jamun at INR49, Heinz said.

Heinz has launched the chutneys, sauces, ready meals and mixes into Mumbai and New Delhi.

A line of fruit juices under the Heinz Golden Circle brand will go on sale at prices ranging from INR95 to INR175 in Mumbai and Bangalore.
