Capilano Honey has claimed one of the major awards at the recent Australian Export Awards.

Held at Parliament House last Friday night, the long running awards recognised the leading Australian export performers of the past year.

“The Awards are national and cover all sectors of the economy. Tonight’s finalists from eight State and Territory Awards in 12 categories of exporters demonstrate unwavering commitment, dedication and willingness to innovate in order to achieve exporting success,” said Peter Anderson,  Chief Executive of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), which co-sponsors the awards with Austrade.

“These impressive businesses will help Australia kick off 2010 with a bang, supporting employment, opening up new overseas markets and promoting our country all over the world.”

Capilano took out the Agribusiness Award.

“Exporting premium quality honey to 52 countries, Capilano Honey accounts for over 90 per cent of all retail-packed honey exported from Australia – making it one of the most widely distributed Australian food brands internationally,” Austrade noted in a statement. “The company has achieved several packaging world-firsts including the Upside Down pack and the Snap’n Squeeze honey sachets.”
