The Macaron Master comes to SBS
Master patissier Adriano Zumbo has landed his own SBS series, Zumbo produced for SBS by Fredbird Entertainment. This mouth watering new observational documentary series will deliver a compelling mix of behind the scenes kitchen reality and cast driven story lines as Zumbo and his team bring his famous creations to life in pursuit of dessert perfection.
In each half hour episode, Adriano, 29, and his young and vibrant team will reveal the challenges of running one of Sydney’s busiest kitchens. Some desserts take hours to create, others take weeks. Adriano taste tests and judges every creation and if it’s not perfect, it goes in the bin.
Across the series viewers will be treated to an insight into Adriano’s busy life as one of Australia’s leading dessert and pastry chefs. Viewers will see Adriano creating over 60 new flavours of his signature dish – macarons – in just five days. He turns his Balmain kitchen upside down to create the largest ever range of macarons Australia has even seen. In this daunting task, Adriano and his team create flavours ranging from pigs blood and chocolate, to hamburger and 23 carat-edible-gold.
Adriano will also return to his family roots for the first time in five years. His visit home to Coonamble in country New South Wales reveals Adriano’s family and personal life for the first time on Australian TV. Coonamble is flooded but the show must go on as Adriano and two of his staff must cater for one of the biggest events of the year – his dad’s birthday.
Also in the series: in another feat of genius, Adriano launches his new summer range of desserts ‘Summer Love’ in a catwalk parade like no other. 30 stunning models strut their stuff down a catwalk showcasing Adriano’s beautiful new range of desserts as 200 lucky fans are amongst the first to sample his creations.
Zumbo will transmit on SBS ONE in February 2011.
