Top MasterChef to cook Foodbank donated food in Festival’s can drive
The 2011 winner of top-ranking TV show Masterchef Australia, Adam Liaw will walk the warehouse floor of Foodbank Victoria to select and use canned foods donated to Foodbank to create a live cooking experience.
As previously reported by Australian Food News, Foodbank Victoria is running in conjunction with the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival on 3-4 March an innovative food donation activity, where families and friends have been invited to donate cans to “a Map of Victoria’s hunger”.
A week later, Australia’s top 2011 Masterchef, Adam Liaw will select from the donated cans on the warehouse floor at Foodbank Victoria to cook up a culinary delight live in front of audiences.
How and why the event is taking place
Foodbank Victoria is inviting people to come to watch and learn about the issues facing people living in Victoria and beyond who need assistance to get three meals a day, while Adam Liaw cooks up dishes worthy of any table.
When and where the event is happening
The event will take place on 14 March 2012, from 7 – 9pm at the Foodbank Victoria warehouse located at 4/2 Somerville Rd Yarraville, on the western side of Melbourne.
Tickets are available from $25 per person, or $15 concession. Foodbank Victoria will also be providing light snacks. Individuals are encouraged to pre-book tickets for the event. Readers can book tickets here.
